Sarajevo played host to a pivotal event in the journey toward a greener, fairer future. Organized by the SLLEI Consortium and E3 International in cooperation with the Olof Palme International Center, the round table “Just Transition in the Energy Sector” brought together a wide array of stakeholders to open a much-needed dialogue on the social dimensions of energy transition in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Hosted by Elektroprivreda BiH (EPBiH), this first-of-its-kind meeting marked the beginning of a broader initiative aimed at fostering partnerships, building coalitions, and laying the groundwork for a truly just transition. Attendees included representatives from relevant ministries, public energy and mining companies, trade unions, civil society organizations, international institutions, and embassies—underscoring the importance of cross-sector collaboration.
The discussions were dynamic and forward-looking, reflecting both the urgency and complexity of transforming the energy sector. Beyond the formal conclusions, the event served as an important platform to share insights on ongoing projects, explore innovative approaches, and acknowledge the challenges faced—particularly by public energy and mining companies—as they navigate the shift toward green energy.
This round table marks only the beginning. A series of follow-up meetings, workshops, and activities are planned in the coming period, all with the goal of shaping a just, inclusive, and sustainable energy transition for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
