Description of the project:
The Tunisian Company of Electricity and Gas (STEG) is responsible for generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, and developing and managing the natural gas network as a public and a non- administrative company. In order for the Tunisian government to accelerate its energy efficiency program, better prepare for the progressive inclusion of renewable energy solutions, and gain better understanding of power generation needs, STEG must move toward advanced energy management and distribution management systems as part of a comprehensive smart grid approach. STEG has already announced that it intends to invest in advanced software and infrastructure smart grid technology for generation, transmission, and distribution.
E3 International is under contract to the U.S. Department of State to develop a smart grid pilot project for STEG to accelerate its deployment of advanced smart grid technology, by conducting a technical feasibility study of the existing grid management infrastructure in country and leveraging subsequent analysis to inform the upgrade of STEG’s systems.
Position Description
In transition from an initial year of remote management during Covid, E3 International is seeking a local Project Manager to manage project activities currently underway in Tunisia, by working with STEG and established local and remote project partners to evaluate current grid infrastructure, design and coordinate the procurement of pilot project equipment, and manage the implementation of the pilot project. The position is a 2-year assignment based in Tunis. Primary responsibilities include:
- Actively manage local project team to ensure successful collaboration on and timely completion of project objectives
- Coordination with E3I Project Director and key personnel in Washington, DC
- Coordination with STEG, Government of Tunisia, USDoS/Tunis, and other relevant Stakeholders on project activities
- Oversee formal reporting of program performance (internally and externally)
- Coordinate with international short-term experts as required
Minimum Qualifications:
- Engineering Degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering (advanced degree preferred)
- Fluent in French and English
- 10 years of experience working with and integrating innovation into power systems (planning and operations), electric systems components at a utility or component vendor or research organization (e.g., laboratory, university).
- Utility grid integration of renewable energy
- Demonstrated experience in one or more areas of project management including outside contractor management, economic analysis and contract management involving budgeting, reporting and invoicing
- Demonstrated experience dealing with investigation, evaluation, testing, and/or adoption of innovative power system technologies
- Knowledge/experience in advanced utility smart grid technologies and applications
Solid skills with Microsoft office products such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word along with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Salary:
